So you want to know a little more about me? Great!
I'm still fine-tuning the propaganda...but here's what I've got so far. A Pain in My Glass and LindenArt...same thing...perhaps my dual personalities...anyway, I have long been dedicated to green, recycled, post consumer, I found it while hiking, dug it up in the landfill, can't believe someone was gonna throw out a perfectly good broken bottle...ART!!!!! I've been doing art of this nature for twenty plus years. It started while I lived on Maui...a small, near perfect, paradise. Living in such a pristine environment you become (hopefully) acutely aware of the need for recycling. The island's just not that big.....and the trash has to go somewhere...too often it's the landfill . Over the years my recycling endeavors have manifested in a variety of art forms...for years I worked primarily with papers, cardboards and plant fibers...moved on to metals, glass, plastics, and now it's a free for all. Damn near anything I find, dig up, or procure by whatever means becomes something else. And not just something else...but usually something functional. To date I have kept nearly 30,000 pounds of whatever out of the landfills and have enjoyed the journey. I've garnered some positive television, newspaper and magazine coverage and support.....have been graced with several State, County and Federal Awards. I enjoy a diverse, eclectic, and immensely intelligent clientele and a considerable number of celebrity collectors as well.
My pieces are roughly 90 percent post-consumer and for the most part one of a kind. I think of them as cultural quilts of glass and metal and....you know...whatever.
The process itself includes,...slumping and fusing in glass kilns, , plasma cutters, welding equipment, glass blowing, soldering , saws, drills, the odd open fire pit and sometimes a sledge hammer. Every day in the studio is a journey and each piece the destination. If you have some ideas or want me to perhaps, turn that old shoe box of memerobelia...(you know the one, it's either under the bed or up on a shelf in the back of the closet) into a mirror, a lamp, a bathroom sink, maybe a clock let me know, ...I love do custom pieces. I generally ask you for a budget, the size of the piece you want, and a color scheme. Prices start at around $50 and can go as high as you want...I'm very flexible. I've built walls, doors, floors, sinks, and even a few shower stalls. The shower stalls are great for pool houses or garden areas.
I look forward to hearing from you.
